Job Title: Controls Engineering Manager
Salary Range: $112,701 - $160,036 annually
Location: Barnwell, SC
This full-time, on-site position oversees all electrical and controls-related operations within a manufacturing environment. The Controls Engineering Manager is responsible for supervising electrical personnel, allocating resources efficiently, and ensuring all voltage systems (high, medium, low) are managed to minimize downtime. Key duties include developing maintenance systems, resolving complex equipment issues, and working closely with production teams to address concerns with manufacturing machinery.
The role demands extensive experience with Siemens PLCs, servo drives, HMI programming, and process controls. Familiarity with Siemens software (TIA Portal, WinCC, Sematic Manager) and Allen-Bradley PLCs is essential. Responsibilities also include supporting preventive maintenance planning, data reporting, and continuous improvement efforts using lean and Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt preferred).
The position requires strong diagnostic skills across electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control systems, as well as the ability to analyze and resolve process issues in a timely and cost-effective manner. After-hours support may be needed to assist with shift maintenance challenges.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing maintenance
Minimum 5 years of experience with PLC controls (Siemens preferred)
Strong knowledge of servo drives, process controls, and HMI programming
Proficiency with Siemens software: TIA Portal, WinCC, Sematic Manager
Working knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLCs
Experience with Lean Six Sigma; Green Belt or higher preferred
Two-year technical degree in a related field, or 5+ years of equivalent experience
Basic computer skills for work order and inventory systems
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities
Ability to work independently and in high-heat, high-noise environments
Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Working conditions include exposure to high heat, loud environments, and physical activities such as walking, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and operating industrial equipment. Internal collaboration with various departments and coordination with external vendors and contractors is required. Regular travel for training may be expected.
