Summary: A leading manufacturing company for precision medical technology compnents is looking for a new Engineering Manager for their site in Wheeling IL. This is a full time on site position, competitive compensation available.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure effective use of project management tools, engineering processes, and systems to support technical staff efficiency.
  • Prioritize and balance engineering team workloads in response to changing internal and external customer needs.
  • Align department talent with business capacity and capability requirements.
  • Prepare documentation for implementing new or updated engineering procedures.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Supervisors and Engineers to enhance production setup, training, and performance metrics.
  • Set clear group and individual objectives, priorities, and performance metrics.
  • Represent the Engineering Department in corporate meetings and cross-functional committees.
  • Manage and resolve engineering requests from stakeholders, clarifying project constraints and priorities.
  • Oversee the development of standardized operating procedures for consistent product development practices.
  • Foster a culture of excellence focused on safety, quality, continuous improvement, and operational effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a closely related technical field required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the medical device industry.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing systems, including shop floor operations, ERP systems, and quality procedures in regulated environments such as ISO 13485:2016 or Mil-Spec.
  • Broad expertise across manufacturing processes such as assembly, fabrication, machining, welding, cable/harness assembly, and powder coating.
  • Proficient in interpreting complex customer drawings and technical specifications.
  • Hands-on experience with MRP/ERP systems; familiarity with Infor Visual 9 is a plus.
  • Advanced computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheets; working knowledge of CAD/CAM tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Mastercam.
  • Solid foundation in statistical and scientific problem-solving methods, including FMEA, APQP, GD&T, and technical documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create clear process documentation, flowcharts, and work instructions.
