Operations Manager - Environmental Services Facility
Location: Wichita, KS
A leading environmental services organization is seeking an Operations Manager to support daily operations within a Transfer, Storage, and Disposal Facility (TSDF). This role focuses on executing safe, compliant, and efficient waste processing operations while leading frontline teams and supporting overall facility performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day operations for hazardous and non-hazardous waste processing, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards
- Supervise and lead operations personnel, including scheduling, training, performance management, and coaching
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and processing of waste streams across various treatment methods (lab packing, bulking, blending, wastewater treatment, etc.)
- Enforce and promote a strong safety culture in partnership with EHS leadership
- Support compliance with RCRA, DOT, and other applicable environmental regulations
- Monitor operational KPIs and drive continuous improvement in efficiency, safety, and productivity
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment uptime and adherence to preventative maintenance schedules
- Assist in managing operating costs, labor utilization, and materials to meet budget targets
- Support waste profiling, approvals, and overall inventory management processes
- Prepare for and participate in audits, inspections, and customer visits
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including logistics, technical services, and sales
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred (science, engineering, or business-related field)
- 5-8+ years of experience in environmental services, waste management, or industrial operations
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a plant or field operations environment
- Working knowledge of RCRA, DOT, and environmental compliance standards
- Strong understanding of operational workflows, safety programs, and process management
- Proven ability to lead teams, drive accountability, and improve performance
- Experience managing priorities in a fast-paced, regulated environment
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational systems
