About the Role
A leading food manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Food Safety & Quality Assurance Director to oversee food safety systems, regulatory compliance, and quality operations within a high‑volume production facility. This role is critical in maintaining compliance, driving continuous improvement, and embedding a strong food safety culture across operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and maintain site food safety and quality programs in compliance with USDA, FDA, and GFSI standards
- Own and manage HACCP, Preventive Controls, and prerequisite programs (sanitation, allergens, pest control, environmental monitoring)
- Serve as primary contact for regulatory inspections, third‑party audits, and customer audits
- Investigate food safety and quality deviations, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective CAPAs
- Partner cross‑functionally with Operations, Sanitation, Maintenance, and Leadership to drive accountability and compliance
- Deliver training and coaching to develop strong food safety knowledge at all levels of the organization
- Monitor performance metrics, identify risks, and implement continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive experience in food safety/quality within a manufacturing environment (protein or perishable foods preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of USDA/FDA regulations, GFSI schemes, HACCP, and Preventive Controls
- Experience leading audits and interfacing with regulatory agencies
- Demonstrated ability to influence teams and drive food safety culture
- Certifications such as HACCP, PCQI, or Internal Auditor strongly preferred
