About the Role

A leading food manufacturing organization is seeking a Director FSQA to provide strategic and operational leadership for food safety and quality systems within a complex, high‑volume production facility. This role has significant ownership of regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and food safety culture, and serves as a key partner to plant leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously improve site‑wide food safety and quality systems in compliance with USDA, FDA, and customer requirements.
  • Own and manage HACCP, Preventive Controls, and prerequisite programs, including sanitation, allergens, environmental monitoring, and pest control.
  • Serve as the primary site contact for regulatory inspections, third‑party audits, and customer audits, ensuring full audit readiness.
  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and accountability for QA teams and cross‑functional partners.
  • Lead root cause investigations and CAPA development for food safety, quality, and customer issues.
  • Partner with Operations, Sanitation, and Maintenance to proactively identify risks and improve process control.
  • Develop, deliver, and reinforce food safety training and culture initiatives at all levels of the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or a related field
  • 6-10+ years of progressive experience in food safety and quality leadership within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of USDA/FDA regulations, GFSI standards, HACCP, and Preventive Controls
  • Demonstrated experience leading audits and interfacing directly with regulatory agencies
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead teams in a fast‑paced production setting
  • HACCP, PCQI, Internal Auditor, or equivalent certifications strongly preferred
  • Experience in protein or perishable food manufacturing highly preferred
