Global Procurement Director
A global, high-tech manufacturing organization is seeking a seasoned Global Category Director to lead sourcing strategy for critical direct materials categories within a semiconductor fabrication environment. This is a senior, high-visibility individual contributor role reporting into executive supply chain leadership.
The Role
This position owns the full strategic sourcing lifecycle on a global scale - from spend analysis and supplier market intelligence through negotiation, contracting, and ongoing supplier performance management. The successful candidate will drive cost, mitigate supply risk, and partner closely with Engineering, R&D, and Manufacturing teams across multiple international sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the global owner of assigned sourcing categories across multiple manufacturing locations
- Analyze global spend, demand, and supplier markets to identify cost, risk, and optimization opportunities
- Develop and maintain long-term category strategies, including supplier segmentation and continuity planning
- Plan and execute complex, high-value negotiations with strategic suppliers
- Lead global category and supplier review meetings
- Partner with Engineering and R&D on cost-reduction and process-improvement initiatives
- Negotiate, implement, and renew supplier agreements to improve cost, quality, and reliability
- Track supplier performance using scorecards, KPIs, and structured business reviews
Background & Experience
- Bachelor's degree required (advanced degree a plus)
- Strong experience in global category management and strategic sourcing
- Prior exposure to semiconductor fabrication or advanced manufacturing environments required
- Experience sourcing chemicals, bulk gases, and/or cylinder gases strongly preferred
- Process engineering or fab-floor experience is a plus
- Demonstrated success leading complex supplier negotiations
- Solid financial and cost-analysis skills
- Advanced Excel skills; strong presentation and communication capabilities
- Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
