Role Overview
The Head of Supplier Development will lead the strategic development of the global supplier base to ensure alignment with the company's operational, innovation, and sustainability goals. This role is critical in enhancing supplier performance, fostering innovation, and building long-term partnerships that support the company's transformation and growth across diverse energy markets.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Supplier Development
- Design and implement a global supplier development strategy aligned with corporate and sustainability objectives.
- Identify and develop strategic suppliers to support innovation, cost competitiveness, and risk mitigation.
- Lead supplier capability assessments, onboarding, and continuous improvement programs.
Performance & Risk Management
- Define and manage supplier performance metrics (KPIs, SLAs, scorecards).
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective action plans for underperforming suppliers.
- Lead supplier audits and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with ESG, safety, and regulatory standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Procurement, Engineering, Operations, and ESG teams to align supplier capabilities with business needs.
- Act as a key interface between internal stakeholders and external suppliers to foster collaboration and innovation.
Leadership & Team Development
- Build and lead a high-performing, geographically dispersed supplier development team.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and supplier excellence.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in supplier development, procurement, or supply chain leadership, ideally within the energy, industrial, or engineering sectors.
- Proven track record in managing global supplier networks and driving performance improvement.
- Strong knowledge of supplier quality systems, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, APQP).
- Experience working in a multinational, matrixed environment with cross-cultural teams.
- Fluent in English; additional European languages are a plus.
- Willingness to travel across Europe and globally as needed.

- Experience with suppliers in renewable energy, hydrogen, grid infrastructure, or energy storage.
- Familiarity with digital supplier management tools and platforms.
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
- Passion for sustainability and innovation in supply chain practices.
