HR Manager
Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Human Resources Manager to lead all site-level HR functions for a growing manufacturing operation. This individual will serve as a strategic partner to plant leadership while maintaining a strong presence on the production floor. The ideal candidate is an operationally focused HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is comfortable balancing employee relations, recruiting, compliance, leadership coaching, and workforce development.
This role requires a visible, approachable leader who can build trust with employees at all levels while driving HR initiatives that support safety, productivity, engagement, and retention.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Leadership Support
- Serve as the primary HR resource for all employees and leaders at the facility.
- Coach managers and supervisors on performance management, employee development, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
- Conduct workplace investigations and manage employee relations matters.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and accountable workplace culture.
- Partner with leadership to drive employee engagement and retention initiatives.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Lead full-cycle recruiting efforts for hourly, skilled trades, and salaried positions.
- Develop sourcing strategies to attract top manufacturing talent.
- Manage onboarding programs to ensure successful employee integration.
- Support succession planning and workforce development initiatives.
Compliance & HR Administration
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Administer employee policies, procedures, and handbook updates.
- Manage leave administration, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, and workers' compensation.
- Support payroll, benefits, and HRIS-related employee inquiries.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
Training & Organizational Development
- Identify training needs and coordinate leadership development programs.
- Support performance review processes and individual development planning.
- Promote continuous improvement and employee growth initiatives.
- Develop and facilitate HR-related training programs.
Manufacturing Floor Partnership
- Maintain a regular presence on the production floor and within operational departments.
- Build strong relationships with employees across all shifts.
- Partner with operations leaders on staffing, productivity, attendance, and retention challenges.
- Support safety initiatives and reinforce a culture of accountability and compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in Human Resources, including direct management of employees, HR teams, or HR programs.
- Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, distribution, or production environment strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of employee relations, labor laws, performance management, recruiting, and compliance.
- Proven ability to influence and partner with leaders at all levels of an organization.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
