HSE Manager (Health, Safety & Environment) - Italy
Position Description
On behalf of a structured industrial organization operating at national and international level, we are looking for an HSE Manager responsible for coordinating and developing Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) activities in Italy.
This role plays a key part in ensuring regulatory compliance, fostering a strong safety culture, and supporting management in the continuous improvement of HSE performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Italian and European HSE regulations, with particular focus on Legislative Decree 81/08 and applicable environmental legislation
- Develop, implement, and continuously update HSE policies, procedures, and management systems
- Coordinate and supervise HSE activities across production and/or operational sites in Italy
- Conduct risk assessments, internal and external audits, and safety inspections
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformities, defining corrective and preventive actions
- Collaborate closely with RSPP, ASPP, Occupational Physicians, and external consultants
- Support and train executives, managers, and employees on HSE-related topics
- Prepare regular HSE reports and performance indicators (KPIs) for senior management
- Act as the main interface with regulatory authorities and control bodies (ASL, ARPA, Fire Brigade, etc.)
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Occupational Health & Safety, or an equivalent qualification
- Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in HSE roles within industrial or structured environments
- In-depth knowledge of Italian HSE legislation, especially Legislative Decree 81/08
- Hands-on experience with ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 management systems
- Ability to work independently and interact effectively with different organizational levels
- Structured, proactive mindset with a strong focus on prevention and continuous improvement
- Strong communication and training skills
- Willingness to travel within Italy
- Good command of the English language (written and spoken)
Preferred Qualifications
- Qualification as RSPP
- Experience in multinational and/or multi-site organizations
- Familiarity with HSE reporting systems and digital tools
- Experience managing contractors and external service providers
