Position Summary
The I&E Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical and instrumentation systems within our manufacturing facility. This role supports plant reliability, production uptime, and safety by ensuring all electrical and control systems operate effectively and efficiently. The ideal candidate has strong experience working in industrial or manufacturing environments and demonstrates a high commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Instrumentation & Controls
- Install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation equipment including transmitters, sensors, analyzers, control valves, PLCs, HMIs, and related components.
- Perform loop checks, functional testing, and commissioning of new equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to process control systems and automation equipment.
- Assist with PLC programming changes, backups, and documentation under engineering guidance.
Electrical Maintenance
- Maintain and repair industrial electrical systems up to 480V, including motors, VFDs, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, and distribution systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults using multimeters, megohm testers, and other diagnostic tools.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical systems and components.
- Support installation and wiring of new machinery and equipment.
Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all safety procedures including LOTO, arc flash requirements, and NFPA 70E guidelines.
- Ensure all electrical and instrumentation work complies with NEC standards.
- Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations as needed.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain accurate documentation including work orders, calibration records, wiring diagrams, and equipment history.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations to improve equipment reliability and process performance.
- Provide technical support during plant shutdowns, turnarounds, and equipment upgrades.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications or an associate degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience as an I&E Technician in a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of process instrumentation, control loops, industrial automation, and electrical distribution systems.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, loop sheets, and equipment manuals.
- Proficiency using diagnostic tools and calibration equipment.
- Working knowledge of PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with AC/DC drives, industrial networking, and SCADA systems.
- Knowledge of pneumatic control systems and control valves.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo).
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment with minimal supervision.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various plant conditions (heat, cold, elevated areas, confined spaces).
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, and work with tools for extended periods.
- Work may involve off‑shift hours, callouts, or weekend support as needed.
