Lead Mechanical Engineer
We're partnering with a specialized manufacturer of industrial processing equipment that is looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to take ownership of the mechanical engineering function and help drive product improvement, standardization, and operational excellence. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity where you'll wear multiple hats-working in CAD, collaborating with manufacturing, supporting installations, and solving real-world engineering challenges.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead mechanical engineering activities across the organization
- Improve and standardize existing product designs and documentation
- Develop detailed manufacturing drawings, assemblies, and BOMs
- Drive Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA) initiatives to improve quality and reduce cost
- Manage and improve engineering documentation, revision control, and PDM processes
- Partner closely with production, purchasing, service, and vendors to resolve technical challenges
- Support new product development from concept through installation and commissioning
- Troubleshoot equipment issues in both manufacturing and field environments
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- 5+ years of mechanical design experience within industrial machinery, automation, custom equipment, food processing, or similar industries
- Strong SolidWorks experience, including detailed manufacturing drawings and assemblies
- Experience with BOM management and PDM systems
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly
- A hands-on engineer who enjoys being on the shop floor and working directly with technicians and customers
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a sense of urgency
