Lead Process Safety Engineer

As the Lead Process Safety Engineer, you will report to the Director of Global Process Safety and play a pivotal role in developing and executing corporate Process Safety Management (PSM) strategies that support our global risk mitigation objectives. In this leadership role, you'll be an integral part of the site leadership team, working collaboratively with Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) teams across multiple locations. Your expertise in facilitating Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) will be central to driving safety excellence. This position will support three sites across Texas, requiring strong coordination and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, facilitation, and documentation of PHAs and LOPAs, ensuring alignment with corporate risk management standards and regulatory expectations.
  • Use Sphera's Advanced Risk Assessment (ARA) software to manage and maintain records of safety assessments.
  • Ensure all PHA/LOPA reports include well-defined scenarios, safeguards, and actionable recommendations.
  • Conduct meetings with a focus on time efficiency and clear, effective communication.
  • Collaborate with Plant Managers to finalize reports and provide English translations when necessary.
  • Support site teams in implementing practical, effective solutions based on PHA/LOPA outcomes.
  • Work with site leadership to prioritize safety actions that are both impactful and cost-effective.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of safeguards to ensure ongoing compliance and visibility.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or related industries.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience facilitating PHAs and LOPAs.
