PSM Coordinator
We are currently seeking a Process Safety Management (PSM) Coordinator to join a leading food and beverage manufacturing company. This role is responsible for overseeing the implementation and coordination of PSM and RMP programs, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance and the safe operation of ammonia refrigeration systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of PSM programs under the guidance of the Industrial Refrigeration Manager, ensuring full regulatory compliance.
- Support plant teams in developing and sustaining site-specific safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Facilitate regular meetings with refrigeration personnel to review safety practices and program updates.
- Ensure consistency in corporate safety programs while aligning with applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintain expertise in all 14 elements of PSM, RMP standards, and relevant federal/state regulations.
- Deliver technical training on PSM topics and support employee education in hazard recognition and gap resolution.
- Coordinate and participate in MOC (Management of Change), PSSR (Pre-Startup Safety Review), and PHA (Process Hazard Analysis) activities.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of operating procedures and training matrices.
- Promote employee participation in PSM/RMP programs and foster a strong process safety culture.
- Maintain and update process safety information and assist with RMP plan management, including offsite consequence analysis.
- Support corporate audits and regulatory inspections (OSHA, EPA) related to PSM/RMP compliance.
- Compile and report process safety performance metrics.
- Provide guidance to Risk Management, Engineering, and Maintenance teams on refrigeration-related projects and modifications.
- Prioritize site safety programs based on compliance needs, risk assessments, and audit findings.
- Offer technical direction on mechanical integrity elements within refrigeration maintenance plans.
- Conduct training sessions for small and large groups.
- Manage electronic documentation using SharePoint and APSM (electronic PSM management tool).
Additional Duties:
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
- Report any environmental or safety incidents in accordance with training protocols.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years coordinating PSM and RMP activities.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA PSM standards and EPA RMP rules.
Certifications:
- Formal training in HAZOP and What-if/Checklist PHAs preferred or willingness to complete.
