Maintenance Group Lead (M/F/D)

We are seeking a results-driven Maintenance Group Lead to oversee the Mechanical Maintenance function at a leading chemicals manufacturer. In this key leadership role, you will manage a team of approximately 30 skilled technicians and supervisors, driving mechanical reliability, safety, and asset performance across the plant.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader with deep technical expertise and strong people-management skills to make a lasting impact within a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the day-to-day activities of the mechanical maintenance team, including technicians, planners, and supervisors.

  • Ensure all mechanical maintenance activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.

  • Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and minimise unplanned downtime.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, engineering, reliability, and EHS to support production and maintenance goals.

  • Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, and contractor performance where applicable.

  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance mechanical system performance.

  • Provide coaching, development, and performance management for the team to build technical capabilities and leadership pipeline.

  • Participate in capital project planning and support equipment installations and upgrades.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 6+ years of mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing or chemical processing environment.

  • 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role, preferably managing large teams.

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, piping, pumps, compressors, etc.

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and team leadership skills.

  • Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and reliability excellence.

  • Fluent German needed
