Position Overview

The Maintenance Manager leads a high-performing team of technicians responsible for analyzing, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment, while also executing preventive maintenance tasks. This role ensures that all equipment within the Regional Distribution Center (RDC) is fully operational and that the facility remains in optimal condition. The Maintenance Manager also oversees capital repair projects, contractor coordination, and the development of maintenance personnel.


Key Responsibilities

Preventive Maintenance & Technical Oversight

  • Ensure the Preventive Maintenance (PM) system is operational and properly populated
  • Identify and implement new PM technologies and techniques
  • Provide cross-training for mechanics across multiple crafts (electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, welding, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot and adjust Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programs
  • Maintain licensing certifications and ensure compliance with legal requirements

Capital Projects & Contractor Management

  • Identify capital repair projects and coordinate contractor/vendor support
  • Monitor contractor assignments and ensure project alignment with facility needs

Team Development & Leadership

  • Establish clear career paths and development opportunities for mechanics
  • Mentor and train Maintenance Supervisors, Mechanics, and Utilities staff
  • Promote accountability, safety, and performance across the maintenance team
  • Lead staffing efforts for roles such as Parts Clerk, Maintenance Clerk, Supervisors, and Mechanics

Operational Alignment & Communication

  • Ensure department goals align with overall facility objectives
  • Foster daily engagement between supervisors and their teams
  • Share best practices across the maintenance network and apply new techniques locally
  • Participate in daily operations and collaborate with other managers

HR & Performance Management

  • Support associates with HR-related matters including attendance, pay, benefits, and workplace accommodations
  • Set clear goals and expectations, provide feedback, and manage performance
  • Sponsor and lead associates through organizational change
  • Develop training checklists, certify proficiency, and document maintenance activities

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3-5 years of experience in distribution center operations
  • Leadership experience with or without direct reports
  • Experience mentoring and coaching teams
  • Technical expertise in repairing and maintaining systems such as conveyors, PLCs, electrical systems, HVAC, and forklifts
  • Proven safety compliance and culture-building experience
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using power equipment (e.g., forklift, reach truck)
  • Experience managing budgets, resources, and timelines
  • Leadership experience with direct report responsibility
  • Experience leading corporate initiatives or working in a networked facility
