Maintenance Manager
Position Summary
The Maintenance Manager oversees all maintenance operations for manufacturing equipment, facility systems, and site infrastructure. This role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the plant by managing maintenance personnel, coordinating external contractors, and driving proactive maintenance strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
- Champion a strong safety culture; ensure all maintenance activities align with safety policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain compliance with environmental, quality, and maintenance regulations.
- Uphold GMP/5S/6S housekeeping and organizational standards.
Maintenance Operations Management
- Lead daily technical operations for production equipment, facilities, utilities, and grounds across assigned sites.
- Manage proactive and reactive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
- Oversee and improve maintenance systems, including storeroom operations, CMMS accuracy, spare parts inventory, preventive maintenance (PM) schedules, and maintenance standards.
- Review, assign, and track work orders; monitor maintenance KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
Troubleshooting & Downtime Response
- Lead the response to unplanned downtime events, coordinating personnel and resources to restore operations quickly.
- Document root causes and corrective actions within the CMMS to support reliability improvements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Safety teams to align maintenance activities with production needs.
- Communicate maintenance plans, schedules, and priorities effectively across teams.
- Support internal and external audits.
Technical Oversight
- Ensure calibration programs for equipment and instruments meet quality and regulatory requirements.
- Verify completed maintenance work meets specifications, standards, and operational needs.
- Provide operators with training on basic equipment care (cleaning, inspection, lubrication).
Leadership & Team Development
- Manage, coach, and develop maintenance technicians to build technical capabilities and promote teamwork.
- Conduct performance evaluations, deliver feedback, and support skill development initiatives.
- Foster a collaborative, solutions-oriented culture focused on continuous improvement.
Budget & Resource Management
- Manage maintenance budgets, monitor spending, and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
- Coordinate weekend and off‑shift work as needed; serve as the primary contact for maintenance activities during non‑production periods.
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors, contractors, and internal partners.
Qualifications
Required
- Ability to prioritize work, schedule repairs, and oversee machine/equipment installation.
- Strong leadership experience in coaching, training, and managing maintenance personnel.
- Knowledge of maintenance, operational, and personnel policies with the ability to enforce them effectively.
Education & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in equipment installation, maintenance, and mechanical/electrical repair.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Associate degree in Machine Maintenance, Industrial Technology, or equivalent experience.
Preferred
- Experience in food manufacturing or other regulated environments.
- Working knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and electronic control systems.
- Familiarity with reliability‑centered maintenance (RCM) or similar methodologies.
- Knowledge of welding techniques and sanitary equipment modifications.
