Maintenance Mechanic

A leading food & beverage manufacturing facility in the Pacific Northwest is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join their team. This role is responsible for repairing, installing, and maintaining high‑speed production equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.

The Maintenance Mechanic will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical/electrical issues, and support production through timely repairs and equipment upgrades. This position requires flexibility across shifts and the ability to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on assigned production lines
  • Repair production and packaging equipment as needed
  • Support equipment upgrades and work alongside external contractors as required
  • Complete line changeovers for different package formats
  • Inspect machinery for proper functioning and ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and complete necessary adjustments or repairs

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing preferred
    • Food/beverage industry experience a plus
    • Relevant technical degree may substitute for experience
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, including experience with high‑speed manufacturing equipment
  • Experience with hydraulic systems (e.g., high‑pressure cylinders, pumps, valves; ability to read hydraulic schematics)
  • Experience with pneumatics (e.g., solenoids, cylinders, motor brakes; schematic reading for troubleshooting)
  • Experience with electrical systems (e.g., high voltage, VFDs, motor testing, panel troubleshooting)
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
    • Ability to interpret instructions, edit documentation, or navigate PLC systems (Allen‑Bradley platforms preferred)
  • Proficiency performing preventative maintenance, including computerized PM systems or SPC chart reviews
  • Familiarity with production line support systems such as chemical/ingredient delivery, lubrication systems, or ozone generation
  • Experience with conveyors/airveyors, diverters, sensors, and VFD/motor controls
  • Ability to work in environments with heat, noise, chemicals, and moving machinery
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and perform physical tasks (climb, stand, crouch, bend, kneel) over a 10-12 hour shift
  • Successful completion of background and drug screening may be required
