Position Overview

The Managing Director - Benelux will be responsible for establishing, managing, and expanding the organisation's presence across the region. This role carries full P&L responsibility, significant autonomy, and the mandate to build a self-sustaining business unit.

The ideal candidate is a commercially driven logistics leader with a proven ability to develop teams, build customer portfolios, and scale operations in a competitive market environment.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Leadership

  • Lead and develop operations across the Netherlands and Belgium.
  • Establish local offices and ensure operational, financial, and commercial performance.
  • Drive strategic growth initiatives aligned with global business objectives.

Commercial Development

  • Expand regional customer portfolio, leveraging an established network within freight forwarding (ideally Seafreight-focused).
  • Secure and manage key account relationships.
  • Identify market opportunities and develop corresponding commercial strategies.

Operational & Financial Management

  • Full ownership of P&L, budgeting, and business planning.
  • Achieve self-sufficiency of the regional business within 9-12 months.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and industry regulations.

Team Building & Leadership

  • Build and manage a high-performing team across Sales, Operations, and Accounting.
  • Bring an existing team where possible, or recruit strategically to support growth.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, performance, and operational excellence.

Candidate Profile

Professional Background

  • Extensive experience in Freight Forwarding, ideally with strong Seafreight exposure.
  • Proven track record in building and scaling regional logistics businesses.

Leadership & Competencies

  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to bring an existing customer portfolio.
  • Hands-on leadership style with an entrepreneurial, "owner mentality."
  • Ability to build teams and establish new operational structures.
  • Energetic, growth-oriented, and capable of working in a dynamic, fast-scaling environment.

Other Requirements

  • Fluency in English; Dutch language proficiency is advantageous.
