Job Title: Lean Manufacturing Manager

Location: Des Moines, IA

Salary: Up to $150k + bonus

Overview: DSJ Global, a leading E2E supply-chain and manufacturing recruitment agency, is currently partnered with an industrial manufacturing organization in IA who is looking to add a Manufacturing and Engineering Manager to their team. Candidates must have leadership and lean manufacturing experience.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the rollout of Lean practices across manufacturing and business operations, applying tools like 5S, Kanban, SMED, TPM, and others to improve areas such as accounts payable/receivable, purchasing, scheduling, and order processing.

  • Help embed a mindset of continuous improvement into the company's culture, encouraging teams to think differently and work more efficiently as part of our evolving way of doing business.

  • Organize and guide improvement events that bring together people from different departments to solve problems, reduce inefficiencies, and improve how work gets done.

  • Coach and support production teams, office staff, and leadership in adopting Lean principles, encouraging collaboration, ownership, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Analyze and improve fabrication and welding processes, while also identifying opportunities to optimize administrative workflows and increase throughput and accuracy.

  • Build training programs that help employees understand and apply Lean concepts in their daily work, making sure the principles are practical and sustainable across departments.

  • Track progress using meaningful performance metrics, and share results with senior leadership to highlight gains in efficiency, cost savings, and quality.

  • Work closely with teams in manufacturing, finance, sales, procurement, and operations to ensure Lean efforts are aligned and integrated across the business.

  • Promote a leadership style that empowers employees to take initiative, contribute ideas, and be part of a long-term transformation focused on continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years demonstrated success in applying Lean principles to business processes
  • Knowledge and practical application of Lean tools, including 5S, cellular manufacturing, Kanban, Jidoka, TPM, SMED, and value stream mapping, across manufacturing and administrative functions
  • Ability to lead Kaizen events, deliver Lean training, and build high-performing, cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and influence stakeholders in manufacturing and administrative roles
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, operations management, business administration, or a related field is preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent certification is a plus
