Position Overview
The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the mechanical design and development of transformer systems, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and manufacturability. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to support product development from concept through production, contributing to projects that serve some of the most dynamic and fast-growing sectors in the energy industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical components and assemblies for power and distribution transformers.
- Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo).
- Conduct mechanical and thermal analysis to validate design performance under various environmental and load conditions.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers, manufacturing teams, and quality assurance to ensure seamless integration and compliance with design specifications.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards (IEEE, ANSI, IEC) and internal quality protocols.
- Support prototype development, testing, and validation activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the transformer or heavy electrical equipment industry.
- Proficiency in CAD tools and mechanical simulation software.
- Strong understanding of materials, welding, sheet metal design, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with transformer design principles and fabrication practices is a strong advantage.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
