About the Role
We are currently partnering with an international logistics provider to hire an Ocean Freight Team Leader to strengthen their Antwerp operations.
The role combines hands-on operational oversight (import-heavy) with team leadership and commercial involvement, ensuring efficient and high-quality service delivery across ocean freight operations.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end ocean freight operations, with a focus on imports
- Lead and support a small team of operations professionals
- Coordinate with shipping lines, agents, customs, and transport providers
- Ensure smooth handling of shipments and resolution of operational challenges
- Monitor KPIs, service delivery, and customer satisfaction
- Act as key contact for customers and stakeholders
- Support commercial initiatives, including client retention and growth
- Drive process optimisation and efficiency improvements
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years experience in ocean freight forwarding
- Strong operational knowledge of import & export processes (import-heavy focus preferred)
- Prior team management experience or strong leadership potential
- Experience working in international freight forwarding environments
- Strong stakeholder management and problem-solving skills
- Balanced profile with both operational and commercial exposure
- Fluent Dutch & English required; French is a plus
