Role Overview: The Process Engineer thrives in collaborative environments and possesses a deep-seated passion for solving engineering challenges. This role presents an exciting opportunity for managing a variety of projects, utilizing technical skills in automation and validation. The Process Engineer will bring hands-on experience in qualification/validation, power, process controls, and/or automation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and manage technical activities for processing, including spray drying, CIP, and powder filling at the Heath facility.
- Prepare process specifications, batch records, and equipment recipes.
- Apply knowledge of engineering principles, core unit operations, and alternate processes to facilitate the commercialization of new product innovations and process improvements.
- Provide and execute necessary process assessments to validate equipment, materials, processes, and formulations.
- Provide technical assistance to other departments and divisions for process development, audits, and product commercialization.
- Seek feedback and build alignment with key stakeholders, management, and team members to develop compelling technical recommendations and business cases for implementation.
- Partner and assist innovation projects for the organization, from experimental trials to product maintenance to qualifications of products, raw materials, and processes.
- Drive structured problem analysis utilizing statistically based solutions to product and process issues.
- Drive the application of economically viable process scale-up principles to plant scale processes.
- Apply understanding of key unit operations in multiple technology platforms toward specifying reliable, cost-effective processes to existing products.
- Partner with Supply Chain to develop future technologies, process construction, and installation (IQ, OQ, and PQ).
- Apply understanding of HACCP, GMPs, and regulatory requirements to process design and qualifications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science or technical training in an engineering or scientific discipline.
- At least 5+ years of experience in nutrition or dairy manufacturing engineering or closely related disciplines.
- Experience in liquid milk processing, spray drying, powder transport, and cleaning/sanitation systems/principles.
- Familiarity with process engineering, reaction kinetics and modeling, equipment design, thermodynamics, and process optimization.
- Understanding of regulatory and GMP requirements for manufacturing of infant formulas.
- Related work experience within a GMP environment is preferred.
- Experience managing projects and working with teams on process/equipment design.
- Self-directed, capable of operating alone or in a team environment.
- Strong prioritization, organization skills, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of validation drafting and execution (IQ/OQ/PQ).
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing project requirements.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and standards.
- Working knowledge of control and design software.
