Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead day-to-day manufacturing operations at their Charlotte, NC facility. This individual will be responsible for managing a production team of 60+ employees while driving safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, and on-time delivery.
This is a 1st shift position with standard daytime working hours. The ideal candidate will come from a heavy manufacturing environment, with experience in metal fabrication, welding, CNC machining, automotive manufacturing, or other complex industrial production operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee daily production activities for a team of 60+ employees.
- Manage, coach, and develop production supervisors, team leads, and hourly manufacturing employees.
- Drive performance across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
- Oversee production scheduling, manpower allocation, workflow, and resource utilization.
- Identify and resolve production bottlenecks to improve throughput and overall efficiency.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on scrap reduction, downtime, labor efficiency, and operational performance.
- Monitor production KPIs and implement corrective actions when performance falls below target.
- Partner cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Supply Chain.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company policies and manufacturing safety standards.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions related to production and quality issues.
- Build a positive, accountable, and performance-driven production culture.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher required.
- 4+ years of leadership experience within a manufacturing environment required.
- Experience leading large production teams, ideally 60+ employees, strongly preferred.
- Background in heavy fabrication, CNC machining, metalworking, automotive, or similar industrial manufacturing environments highly desirable.
- Demonstrated success improving safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and operational performance.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production planning, and labor management.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, root cause analysis, or similar continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
