A nutrition and healthy snack company that manufactures and sells protein bars and functional food products is looking to hire a Production Planner in McMinnville, OR.
Role: Production Planner
Work Model: on-site 5 days per week
Compensation: $75,000 to $95,000 base salary
The Role:
Position Summary
The Production Planner is responsible for production scheduling, material planning, capacity management, and inventory optimization to support operational, financial, and customer objectives. This role drives efficient manufacturing operations through demand planning, production scheduling, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Procurement, Production, and Customer Service teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage production schedules and planning parameters within the ERP system.
- Develop and maintain a rolling 12-month master production plan.
- Lead inventory and operations planning (S&OP) and capacity planning activities.
- Align production plans with demand forecasts and changing customer requirements.
- Coordinate new product and material introductions into production schedules.
- Analyze production requirements, plant capacity, labor needs, and resource utilization.
- Identify and resolve scheduling, capacity, and delivery challenges; implement recovery plans as needed.
- Partner with Procurement and Materials teams to ensure material availability aligns with production plans.
- Track and report key planning KPIs, including on-time delivery, schedule adherence, inventory levels, and production performance.
- Conduct root cause analysis on production variances and recommend process improvements.
- Monitor inventory to support customer demand and fulfillment requirements.
- Coordinate annual physical inventory activities with Accounting and external auditors.
- Prepare long-term capacity plans to support future business growth.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, MRP, or supply planning within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with ERP systems, including MRP and production planning modules.
- Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Power Query, and data analysis tools.
- Experience with Power BI, reporting tools, or automation is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate across Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations, and Customer-facing teams.
