Position Overview

A growing food manufacturing organization is seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead daily operations within a high-volume production environment. This role is responsible for driving shift performance across safety, quality, productivity, delivery, and cost while ensuring efficient execution of production activities.

The Production Supervisor will spend significant time on the manufacturing floor, providing leadership, coaching employees, monitoring line performance, and ensuring production goals are achieved. The ideal candidate is a strong front-line leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about employee development, continuous improvement, operational excellence, and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and drive shift performance metrics including safety, quality, throughput, labor efficiency, waste reduction, and overall operational effectiveness.
  • Lead shift startup meetings, production execution, and shift handoffs to ensure consistency across operations.
  • Monitor production lines in real time, addressing downtime, escalating issues, and driving performance improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, GMPs, food safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Partner closely with Maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and minimize production interruptions.
  • Enforce workplace safety standards and ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  • Lead, coach, and develop hourly production employees through clear expectations, feedback, training, and accountability.
  • Manage staffing and workforce deployment to meet production targets and changing operational demands.
  • Drive labor productivity while minimizing material waste, rework, and product giveaway.
  • Conduct regular team communications, including shift huddles, performance discussions, and operational updates.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
  • Maintain accurate reporting of key production metrics, including output, downtime, labor performance, and other KPIs.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Maintenance, Warehousing, and other departments to ensure smooth plant operations.
  • Support employee onboarding, training, and workforce development initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred, ideally in Engineering, Operations, Business, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Prior leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Lean manufacturing and/or Lean Six Sigma experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality systems, KPI management, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality compliance.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic production environment.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience within food manufacturing, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or other high-volume manufacturing environments is preferred.

Work Environment

This position operates within a manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to moving machinery, production equipment, varying temperatures, and moderate to high noise levels. Additional hours may be required based on production needs, with minimal travel expected.
