Project Engineer
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our team in the semiconductor/chemical manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources, coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants, and ensuring project goals align with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leads project execution with consistent coordination across key departments including Business Management, Engineering, IT, EH&S, Accounting, Sourcing, Logistics, Quality, Operations, and Maintenance.
- Facilitates seamless communication among diverse technical disciplines such as civil/structural, electrical/instrumentation, software, mechanical, chemical/process, IT, and laboratory teams.
- Organizes and leads project meetings and reviews-both formal and informal-focused on team alignment, scope definition, hazard analysis, design validation, planning, and commissioning.
- Oversees the asset development process by managing comprehensive project documentation, including but not limited to: scopes of work, P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, electrical single-line diagrams, hazard review summaries, permit applications, project schedules, resource plans, cost estimates, budget tracking, device inventories, funding requests (AFE), technical specifications, contracts, procurement documents, invoices, commissioning strategies, and post-project evaluations.
- Directs cross-functional teams to meet critical project goals such as enhancing process safety, ensuring EH&S and regulatory compliance, controlling capital expenditures, adhering to schedules, and achieving smooth commissioning. Maintains focus on these priorities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develops and implements core process philosophies and best practices to support continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Manages site capital project workflows and budgets, including KPI monitoring, expenditure forecasting, regular progress reporting, and driving timely project completion.
- Builds and sustains effective partnerships with contractors and vendors tailored to the specific needs of each project site.
- Performs additional responsibilities as needed to support project success and organizational objectives.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- 9+ years of experience in project engineering, preferably in the semiconductor, chemical, or high-tech manufacturing industry.
- Strong understanding of chemical processes and semiconductor fabrication environments.
- Strong skillset in understanding and creating P&ID's and isometrics.
- General understanding of API, ANSI, and NFPA.
- Ability to manage the PSM processes, especially, management of change, pre-startup safety reviews and process hazard analysis.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA) is desirable.
- Strong communication skills.
