QC Manager
Role Overview
The QC Manager leads the development and execution of processes that ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards for ingredient and supplier qualification. This role manages documentation systems, supplier audits, and quality data platforms, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence. The position works cross-functionally with internal teams and external suppliers to maintain high standards of food safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Design and improve systems for supplier and ingredient qualification to ensure compliance and reduce risk.
- Administer and maintain quality databases and platforms, ensuring alignment with food safety objectives.
- Act as subject matter expert on documentation, qualification protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to team members supporting quality initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with R&D, Procurement, and Operations to ensure smooth and compliant product commercialization.
- Manage ingredient and raw material change control processes with proper documentation.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to maintain accurate compliance records.
Supplier & Ingredient Compliance
- Oversee supplier qualification and ongoing compliance monitoring, including audits and certifications.
- Lead corrective action processes to address supplier performance issues.
- Manage compliance for imported materials under FSMA requirements.
System Management & Data Integrity
- Maintain quality and supplier databases, ensuring accuracy and timely updates.
- Conduct regular audits of approved supplier and ingredient lists and report findings.
- Ensure proper setup and maintenance of specifications in ERP systems.
Audit & Performance Monitoring
- Conduct supplier audits and report key performance indicators to leadership.
- Investigate raw material non-conformance issues and coordinate resolutions.
Change Management & Documentation Control
- Develop and manage change control processes for supplier and ingredient modifications.
- Maintain comprehensive records in compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years in food manufacturing or quality systems, with leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of FSMA, FDA, USDA, HACCP, SQF, and related regulations.
- Experience with quality systems software (TraceGains, SAP, or similar).
- Excellent project management and communication skills.
Physical Requirements: Ability to work on-site, navigate production areas, and occasionally lift up to 15 lbs.
