Quality Director, Semiconductor

Position Overview

This role leads the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality assurance and control systems to achieve customer, supplier, and organizational quality objectives. You will oversee the Quality Management System (QMS) for a site or corporate level, ensuring compliance and effectiveness. The position involves defining standards, methods, and procedures for inspection, testing, and evaluation to guarantee product precision, accuracy, and reliability. You will also contribute to engineering design reviews, provide quality input, and support product teams with data analysis. Ultimately, you will be accountable for all quality functions at the site.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all aspects of site quality, including product, customer, and supplier quality.
• Serve as the site representative for ISO 9001 and other external quality certifications.
• Lead the Management Review process and ensure alignment with global quality governance.
• Collaborate with operations and corporate teams to define and achieve quality objectives.
• Allocate resources-both personnel and equipment-to meet organizational quality goals.
• Build and train an internal audit team to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain strong customer relationships, manage data, and resolve issues promptly.
• Partner with suppliers to enhance capability, provide feedback, and ensure issue resolution.
• Oversee outgoing product quality by embedding quality into operations and preventing defects using tools such as Zero Quality programs and process optimization.
• Promote critical thinking and the application of quality tools and disciplines to improve organizational effectiveness and operational results.
• Define KPIs, structure measurement systems, and leverage data to drive alignment and performance.
• Lead improvement initiatives to streamline processes, enhance QMS efficiency, and deliver consistent results.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to implement quality strategies across sites.
• Coach, mentor, and train teams on quality principles and best practices.

Skills & Experience

• Strong analytical skills with expertise in statistical data analysis and interpretation.
• In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., 8D).
• Ability to address complex challenges and develop actionable plans for internal, supplier, and customer needs.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence and coach teams effectively.
• Excellent communication skills-written, verbal, and presentation.
• 15+ years of experience in quality and manufacturing systems, including ISO 9001, SPC, TQM, and customer/supplier management.
• Background in welding, electromechanical assemblies, and system integration preferred.
• 13+ years of direct management experience.
