Quality / QMS Manager - Advanced Manufacturing

Location: Woodland, WA
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt

An established advanced manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Quality / QMS Manager to lead its Quality Management System, drive continuous improvement, and oversee all quality operations across the business. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with deep experience in aerospace, medical device, or similarly regulated environments.


Position Overview

The Quality/QMS Manager will develop, manage, and continuously improve the organization's Quality Management System using data-driven methods, Lean principles, and Six Sigma tools. This role is highly cross-functional, interacting with manufacturing, engineering, suppliers, customers, and executive leadership.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and oversee the established Quality Management System (AS9100, FAA).
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Quality team members; conduct performance reviews.
  • Manage department KPIs and present results to senior leadership.
  • Lead the internal audit program and drive corrective actions.
  • Oversee quality interactions with manufacturing, engineering, suppliers, customers, and subcontractors.
  • Manage supplier quality efforts, including onsite audits and performance initiatives.
  • Develop and track metrics related to escapes, delivered quality, scrap, rework, and other quality indicators.
  • Support and champion continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
  • Maintain and analyze quality databases to provide accurate, real-time reporting.
  • Manage performance metrics such as POI dwell time and nonconformance (NC) trends.
  • Travel up to 10% as needed.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent delegation, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; able to work autonomously with initiative.
  • Demonstrated success in problem-solving and managing complex quality programs.
  • Experience with AS9100, FAA, or similar regulated systems.
  • Proven experience with FAA PMA, Part 21, 121, or 145 Repair Station environments (preferred).
  • Proficiency in measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, fixtures, optical comparators, and hardness testers.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement (Six Sigma Green Belt or higher preferred).
  • Ability to manage personnel and quality processes aligned with company goals.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience leading quality assurance functions in manufacturing.

Work Environment

  • Primarily based in a manufacturing and machine shop environment.
  • Must adhere to all safety protocols, including PPE usage when required.
