Senior Controls Engineer
Position Overview
A leading global medical technology company is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to join its advanced manufacturing engineering team. This group is responsible for developing and supporting high-performance automation systems used in the production of innovative drug delivery devices. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in hardware/software controls, high-speed automation, and continuous improvement methodologies.
This role involves leading the design, development, and deployment of control systems for assembly, packaging, and process equipment. The engineer will be instrumental in launching new equipment, optimizing existing systems, and driving technical excellence across manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, install, and troubleshoot control systems including PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, and motors.
- Develop and refine imaging and vision systems for automated inspection and assembly.
- Create and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control logic.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives across multiple production lines.
- Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Independently manage medium to large-scale automation projects from concept to completion.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing automation, including custom equipment design and implementation.
Preferred Skills
- Extensive experience with high-volume, high-speed, precision assembly systems.
- Proficiency in Rockwell Automation platforms (RSLogix5000, FactoryTalk View ME/SE).
- Familiarity with B&R automation hardware/software is a strong advantage.
- Deep understanding of servo motion control, robotics, and material handling systems.
- Experience with industrial imaging systems and software.
- Strong project management and documentation capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of SQL Server and Visual Basic is a plus.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Additional Information
Occasional domestic and international travel may be required (approximately 10%).
