Senior Demand Planner
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Demand Planner plays a critical role in shaping sales, inventory, and replenishment strategies across key accounts and multiple product categories. This position is responsible for building demand-driven plans while ensuring inventory flows efficiently from production through shipment. The role balances detailed execution with strategic oversight, partnering closely with commercial, merchandising, sourcing, and operations teams to drive revenue, profit, and inventory health.
This role is ideal for a highly organized, analytical self-starter with a strong background in retail or wholesale planning who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop demand and inventory plans at the style and program level using historical performance and forecasting inputs
- Partner with account-facing teams to ensure replenishment systems are configured with accurate parameters and forecasts
- Support pre-season planning activities, including replenishment strategy, key item identification, and assortment planning
- Provide regular financial projections related to replenishment and in-season demand
- Monitor in-season performance through in-stock, weeks-of-supply, and sell-through metrics; adjust plans as needed
- Maintain consistent communication with account and planning partners to address risks and opportunities during the season
- Consolidate and oversee overall production requirements across multiple product groupings
- Recommend inventory commitments and replenishment placements that align demand with optimal inventory levels
- Collaborate with commercial and finance partners to review and approve production orders
- Own and manage Open-to-Buy (OTB) planning, including flow management and scenario modeling
- Translate future demand projections into actionable guidance for sourcing and capacity planning
- Forecast material requirements at an aggregate level to support strategic pre-positioning initiatives
- Oversee group buy processes and milestone calendars within product lifecycle systems
- Partner with operations to evaluate inventory against warehouse capacity and recommend exceptions when required
- Track and evaluate the performance of replenishment programs across product categories
- Deliver ad hoc reporting and analysis to support leadership decision-making
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION
- Work closely with merchandising and commercial teams on pre-season brand- and account-level planning
- Partner with supply chain planning to maintain balanced inventory levels and service targets
- Collaborate with sourcing teams to review work-in-progress and mitigate potential supply constraints
- Identify opportunities to streamline assortments and material usage across categories
- Support reviews of aging or excess inventory and contribute to resolution strategies
- Align replenishment goals with broader demand and business planning objectives
- Contribute to planning strategies for digital and replenishment-focused assortments
SKILLS & CAPABILITIES
- Strong command of retail math and demand planning fundamentals
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with planning or replenishment systems is a plus
- Ability to translate data into clear financial and inventory recommendations
- Polished written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Collaborative mindset paired with a proactive, ownership-driven approach
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in retail or wholesale planning, buying, replenishment, or inventory management
- Proven ability to analyze performance and deliver solutions that improve financial and inventory outcomes
- Comfortable working independently while setting and managing priorities
- Willingness and ability to travel periodically to partner locations as needed
