Senior Product Application Engineer (M/F/D)
Overview
Our client is a global semiconductor innovator at the forefront of next-generation power electronics. As Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology continues to transform power conversion across AI data centres, renewable energy, industrial automation, motor drives and emerging robotics applications, they are expanding their team with a senior technical expert who can bridge the gap between semiconductor devices and real-world system performance.

Responsibilities
- Lead GaN application projects from concept through validation and deployment.
- Design, develop and validate hardware evaluation platforms and reference designs.
- Analyse and optimise system-level performance, efficiency, thermal behaviour and power density.
- Benchmark GaN solutions against silicon and SiC alternatives.
- Work closely with R&D and product teams to translate application insights into future product roadmaps.
- Support customers with technical discussions, design reviews and application challenges.
- Generate technical documentation including application notes, reference designs and performance reports.
- Collaborate with research institutes, universities and ecosystem partners on advanced development projects.
- Represent the business at technical conferences, customer workshops and industry events.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or a related discipline.
- Proven semiconductor industry experience, ideally within power devices or power electronics.
- Strong hands-on hardware development background, including design, bring-up, debugging and validation.
- Deep understanding of power electronics and power conversion systems from low voltage through to high-voltage applications (up to 1200V).
- Experience with GaN and/or SiC technologies is highly desirable.
- Ability to understand semiconductor device behaviour within complete system-level applications.
- Experience benchmarking and characterising power semiconductor performance.
- Comfortable leading projects across both hardware and software development activities.
- Practical, laboratory-focused engineering mindset with strong troubleshooting skills.
- Confident communicating with customers and technical stakeholders globally.
Desirable:
- AI data centre power infrastructure experience.
- Motor control or industrial drives experience.
- Exposure to robotics or humanoid robotics applications.
- Experience developing evaluation boards, reference designs or customer-facing technical content.
