Senior Purchasing Manager - Dongguan (OEM)
The Role
Reporting to general management, you will lead a team of sourcing and purchasing professionals responsible for direct materials procurement, supplier management, cost reduction initiatives, material planning coordination, and supply continuity across multiple manufacturing sites.
You will play a critical role in balancing strategic procurement objectives with day-to-day operational execution, ensuring materials are sourced competitively while maintaining quality, delivery, and inventory targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of sourcing, purchasing, and procurement professionals.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies across key electronics commodities and manufacturing materials.
- Manage supplier selection, qualification, performance reviews, and supplier development initiatives.
- Drive supplier consolidation and establish preferred supplier programs.
- Lead commercial negotiations covering pricing, payment terms, lead times, rebate agreements, MOQ, and supply contracts.
- Drive continuous cost reduction programs through benchmarking, value engineering, alternative sourcing, and market intelligence.
- Partner closely with Engineering, NPI, Operations, Planning, and Quality teams on new project RFQs and product launches.
- Review BOM costs and support quotation activities for key customer programs.
- Monitor global supply market trends, component availability, and pricing movements.
- Develop mitigation strategies to address supply shortages, allocation risks, and supplier capacity constraints.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers across China and Asia to ensure long-term supply stability.
Job Requirements
- Degree qualified in Supply Chain, Engineering, Procurement, Business, or related disciplines.
- Minimum 10-15 years of procurement and supply chain experience within OEM, ODM, EMS, or electronics manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading sourcing and purchasing teams.
- Strong knowledge of electronic components, PCBAs, semiconductors, electromechanical parts, plastics, metals, and manufacturing materials.
- Proven track record managing sizable procurement spend and delivering measurable cost savings.
- Hands-on experience supporting NPI, RFQ, and customer-driven manufacturing programs.
- Strong commercial negotiation and supplier management capabilities.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of China supplier networks and manufacturing operations.
- Agile, adaptable, and comfortable working within a fast-moving environment where priorities can shift quickly.
- Willingness to travel regularly to manufacturing sites and suppliers within China as required.
