Job Overview

A leading manufacturer of custom components for the aerospace industry is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join its team in Connecticut. With over six decades of experience supplying advanced sensor and cable systems to commercial, military, and space markets, the company continues to push the boundaries of innovation in manufacturing.

The Senior Quality Engineer will report to the Director of Quality and play a key role in enhancing manufacturing processes, implementing quality systems, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role involves designing and refining processes for new products, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Job Requirements

  • Ensure workflows, processes, and products meet safety and quality standards.
  • Manage quality-related issues across internal teams and customer interactions.
  • Develop and implement process control, testing, and inspection methods.
  • Maintain high product quality to reduce cost of poor quality (COPQ) and increase customer satisfaction.
  • Create and revise quality documentation, standards, and inspection protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant quality management systems and certifications (e.g., ISO9001, AS9100, NADCAP, FAA).
  • Lead or participate in MRB and Quality Clinic activities.
  • Monitor and report on quality trends, issues, and scrap rates.
  • Manage Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) reports.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Conduct and participate in training sessions.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in root cause investigations.
  • Travel up to 15% (domestic/international) as needed.
  • Perform additional tasks and projects with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (equivalent professional experience may be considered).
  • 7-10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably involving welding or brazing.
  • Strong understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, APQP, and PPAP methodologies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and statistical software (e.g., MINITAB).
  • Skilled in interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in the aerospace industry is preferred.
  • Must meet U.S. Export Control compliance requirements (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).
