Location: Fully Remote
Travel: Occasional travel to manufacturing facilities as needed
Compensation: $125,000 - $150,000 + Bonus

Overview
A leading industrial manufacturing organization is seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Specialist to provide technical leadership across automation, instrumentation, and process control systems. This fully remote role will support multiple plant operations, drive reliability improvements, lead capital projects, and serve as a subject matter expert for control systems, functional safety, and process automation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for instrumentation, PLC, DCS, and automation systems.
- Troubleshoot control system and instrumentation issues to improve reliability and performance.
- Lead control system upgrades, capital projects, and process improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain control narratives, interlock logic, cause-and-effect matrices, and engineering documentation.
- Support Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), HAZOPs, SIL reviews, and Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
- Perform root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and reliability-focused investigations.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to optimize plant performance.
- Manage contractors and support project execution from design through commissioning.
- Provide training and mentorship to technical personnel and site teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in instrumentation, controls, or process automation within a manufacturing or process industry environment.
- Strong experience with PLCs, DCS platforms, HMI systems, and industrial networking.
- Knowledge of instrumentation including pressure, flow, level, temperature, control valves, and analyzers.
- Experience with functional safety, SIS, PSM, HAZOP, or SIL methodologies preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, project management, and problem-solving skills.
- Exposure to Emerson DeltaV, Rockwell Automation, Foundation Fieldbus, or similar technologies is highly desirable.
