Position Summary
A leading North American food manufacturing facility is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager of Technical Operations to oversee engineering and maintenance functions at its aseptic production site. This role is pivotal in shaping the plant's technical direction, driving operational excellence, and ensuring the long-term reliability and efficiency of equipment and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a multi-year capital investment roadmap aligned with site and enterprise goals. Ensure optimal resource allocation and project execution.
- Project Management: Lead both capital and non-capital projects from concept through completion, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Operational Excellence: Identify and implement innovative solutions to enhance safety, reduce operational costs, and extend equipment life cycles.
- Reliability & Maintenance: Oversee predictive and preventive maintenance programs to improve asset reliability and minimize downtime.
- Team Development: Build and mentor a high-performing technical team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation.
- Process Optimization: Partner with site leadership to develop and execute a comprehensive master plan focused on performance improvement and operational efficiency.
- Best Practices: Promote the adoption of industry best practices and new technologies to enhance technical capabilities and drive sustainable improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline; advanced degrees or certifications in project management are advantageous.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in technical operations, including direct oversight of engineering and maintenance teams.
- Proficiency with engineering and maintenance tools such as AutoCAD, MS Project, and CMMS platforms (e.g., SAP PM or equivalent).
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing systems, including processing, packaging, filling, and utilities-preferably within the food or beverage industry.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale capital projects ($3M-$5M+) and developing long-term investment strategies.
- Strong understanding of sanitary design, project commissioning, and startup best practices.
- Familiarity with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodologies; experience leading TPM initiatives is a plus.
