Sr. Mechanical Engineer - Regional
DSJ Global is currently partnering with a global materials manufacturing company to identify a candidate for a Senior Regional Mechanical Engineer to serve as a subject matter expert for Piping Design across multiple sites. This individual will be responsible for leading the design, analysis, and execution of complex piping systems across diverse projects. You'll ensure all solutions meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance, while mentoring junior engineers and working closely with clients, project managers, and cross-functional teams.
This is a remote opportunity with up to 40% travel to manufacturing sites but the ideal candidate will be based on the east coast.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of complex piping systems, ensuring full compliance with industry standards and codes such as ASME, ANSI, and API.
- Create and review piping layouts, isometric drawings, and 3D models using tools like AutoCAD, Revit, and other specialized design software.
- Perform detailed engineering analyses, including piping stress calculations, material selection, and safety evaluations to ensure system integrity and reliability.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams-including structural, electrical, and instrumentation engineers-to ensure seamless integration of piping systems into overall project designs.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, promoting best practices and maintaining high engineering standards.
- Review and approve vendor documentation, specifications, and equipment to support procurement and ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Manage project deliverables, ensuring piping design packages are completed on time and within budget.
- Conduct site visits, feasibility studies, and commissioning activities to validate design performance and compliance with client and regulatory expectations.
- Champion safety, quality, and environmental standards throughout all phases of design and implementation.
- Prepare and deliver technical reports, proposals, and presentations for internal stakeholders and clients.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging technologies, and materials to continuously enhance design processes and project outcomes.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required for this position.
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong emphasis on piping design.
- Deep knowledge of piping design principles, including material selection, stress analysis, and system layout.
- Proficiency in CAD and 3D modeling software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Plant 3D.
- Strong familiarity with industry codes and standards, including ASME B31.3, ASME B31.1, API, and other relevant guidelines.
- Proven experience in project management, including leading design teams, coordinating across disciplines, and delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities, with the confidence to engage effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 40% to manufacturing and project sites, depending on project needs.
