Vice President of Operations - Fulfillment & Logistics (Apparel Focus)

Overview

A leading logistics and fulfillment organization is seeking a strategic and results-driven Vice President of Operations to oversee and elevate its operational capabilities. This executive role is responsible for driving operational excellence across multiple facilities, optimizing fulfillment processes, and leading a high-performing team in a fast-paced, apparel-focused third-party logistics (3PL) environment.

The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in logistics, apparel fulfillment, and large-scale operational leadership. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of fulfillment strategy, client integration, and continuous improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive operations strategy aligned with organizational goals and long-term vision.
  • Serve as a key decision-maker on operational structure, staffing, and financial performance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with business development and client experience teams to support new client onboarding and existing client growth.

Operational Excellence

  • Identify and implement opportunities for operational efficiencies, space utilization, and throughput optimization to maximize profitability.
  • Oversee productivity, quality, and safety standards across all facilities, ensuring alignment with client expectations and internal benchmarks.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives and change management projects that enhance fulfillment performance and scalability.

Facility & Infrastructure Oversight

  • Provide strategic input on new facility openings, including location selection, layout configuration, capital expenditure planning, and go-live execution.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements in facility space utilization to support operational growth and efficiency.

Financial & Performance Management

  • Own and manage full P&L responsibilities for the operations function.
  • Monitor and manage budgetary requirements for staffing, equipment, and operational expenditures.
  • Analyze financial variances and performance metrics such as Rate Per Hour (RPH), labor ratios, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Ensure operational decisions support financial goals and long-term sustainability.

Team Development & Leadership

  • Provide direction, mentorship, and leadership to direct reports and broader operations teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead organizational realignment efforts to ensure optimal team structure and performance.
  • Engage effectively with both C-suite executives and hourly associates, demonstrating a hands-on leadership style and strong communication skills.
  • Balance empathy and accountability in team management and decision-making.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years in a senior operations leadership role, preferably within a 3PL or apparel/footwear/accessories fulfillment environment.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale logistics operations, including pick and pack fulfillment.
  • Demonstrated success in driving operational transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong experience managing full P&L for a complex, multi-site operation.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in CRM systems and tier-one Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Familiarity with LEAN methodologies and process improvement tools.

Leadership & Soft Skills

  • Highly organized and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Solution-oriented mindset with a focus on performance and results.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, vendors, and contractors.
  • Spanish-speaking ability is a strong plus.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to travel frequently, both domestically and internationally.
  • Preference for candidates with a hands-on mentality and long-term career runway.
  • Open to candidates requiring work visa sponsorship.
  • Relocation support provided.
  • Short-term hybrid flexibility available for family needs.

Training Provided Upon Entry

  • Organizational structure and departmental interdependencies.
  • Training on internal systems including WMS and SharePoint.
  • Introduction to LEAN concepts and operational frameworks.

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $250,000 - $300,000
