We're looking for an Operational Account Executive to join a growing international logistics provider in Rotterdam. This role offers a unique blend of ocean freight operations, customer relationship management, and commercial exposure, making it ideal for someone who wants to gradually transition into a client-facing or sales-focused career.
You'll act as the key link between customers, carriers, internal operational teams, and commercial colleagues, ensuring smooth execution of shipments while building strong, long-term customer relationships.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing end-to-end ocean freight shipments for a portfolio of customers
- Acting as the primary contact for operational and customer-related queries
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients
- Identifying opportunities to improve service levels and grow accounts
- Working closely with the sales team on customer retention and business growth initiatives
- Preparing quotations and supporting pricing discussions
- Monitoring shipment performance, resolving issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction
- Coordinating with carriers, agents, warehouses, and internal departments
- Supporting business reviews and customer meetings
- Providing market updates and logistical solutions to customers
What We're Looking For
- Experience within ocean freight forwarding, shipping, or logistics
- Strong understanding of import and/or export operations
- Customer-focused mindset with excellent communication skills
- Ambition to develop towards a commercial, account management, or sales role
- Ability to build relationships and confidently engage with customers
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Fluent Dutch and English are essential
- Experience with freight forwarding systems and operational processes
