MRP Production Planner
Position Overview
A well-established manufacturing organization is seeking a detail-oriented Production Planner with strong experience in MRP and SAP systems. This role is responsible for developing and managing production schedules to meet customer delivery timelines, optimize manufacturing capacity, and maintain accurate inventory levels. The ideal candidate will be a proactive communicator and problem-solver with a solid understanding of ERP systems and production planning processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain daily and weekly production schedules to meet customer demand and internal capacity constraints.
- Analyze sales order releases and align production plans with material availability and resource capacity.
- Monitor and respond to MRP exception messages, action items, and system notifications.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, purchasing, and customer service teams to resolve material and scheduling issues.
- Ensure accurate reporting of product status, including back orders, inventory risks, and schedule compliance.
- Maintain and adjust planning parameters such as lead times, lot sizes, and days of supply.
- Manage inventory levels for both manufactured and purchased items, ensuring alignment with production needs.
- Reconcile and process inventory adjustments in SAP, including receiving raw materials and finished goods.
- Support new product introductions and production line transitions to ensure continuity of supply.
- Coordinate rework planning to reduce obsolescence and improve inventory utilization.
- Communicate shipment details, delays, and lot numbers to customer service for invoicing and order fulfillment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve SAP errors, including batch issues and screen discrepancies.
- Generate weekly production and utility reports as requested by plant leadership.
- Place commodity production orders and ensure timely material procurement in coordination with purchasing.
- Maintain control of bulk load documentation and inventory for outbound shipments.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree required; additional education or certifications in supply chain or operations preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in production planning or materials control, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in SAP and a strong understanding of MRP principles and ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities across cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
