Business Development Manager - Engineering Services (Consumer Products Focus)

Our client, an engineering consultancy with multiple offices across the United States, is seeking a Business Development Manager to support its expansion in the Consumer Products sector. The company provides full-service engineering, procurement, and construction management solutions to clients in industries such as pulp & paper, chemicals, consumer products, and food & beverage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with sector leadership to shape go-to-market strategies and coordinate internal resources in a team-oriented environment.
  • Drive client relationship development, lead generation, proposal management, contract negotiation, and account management.
  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities, working with technical teams to communicate value and prepare proposals and contracts.
  • Analyze industry trends and capital project drivers to tailor service offerings and identify areas for differentiation.
  • Lead a client-centered sales process that positions the company as a value-added partner.
  • Develop marketing and industry collateral to support business development efforts.
  • Represent the company at industry events and serve as a thought leader.
  • Gather and share competitive intelligence to inform strategic decisions.
  • Ensure successful project delivery by coordinating with internal teams and participating in project management as needed.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for key clients to strengthen relationships.
  • Mentor and manage other members of the business development team.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for delivering value through engineering expertise.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a willingness to challenge the status quo.
  • Background in the Consumer Products industry, particularly in engineering, maintenance, or construction roles.
  • In-depth understanding of engineering services and construction consulting.
  • Proven experience in managing engineering design and project management engagements.
  • Demonstrated success in selling engineering or construction management services to consumer product companies.
  • Results-driven, proactive, and client-focused.
