Commercial Operator, Container Business

ROLE SUMMARY
We're looking for a highly organized and detail-focused professional to oversee containerized export logistics for agricultural commodities such as soybeans, corn, wheat, DDGS, and CGM. This role is essential to managing the full export process-from booking to documentation-while coordinating with both internal teams and external partners. While our Tampa office is the preferred location, we're open to remote candidates based on experience and fit.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Export Coordination

  • Manage the logistics of container shipments from various U.S. origins (Midwest rail ramps, Gulf, East/West Coast ports) to international markets.
  • Handle bookings with shipping lines, NVOCCs, and transload facilities, ensuring timely equipment availability and vessel alignment.
  • Track container loading and stuffing activities at transload and packing sites.

Documentation & Regulatory Compliance

  • Prepare and verify export paperwork, including instructions for carriers, USDA and phytosanitary certificates, and customs declarations.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations from USDA, FDA, U.S. Customs, and destination countries.
  • Coordinate with inspection and fumigation services for required treatments and certifications.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the primary liaison for suppliers, transport providers, freight forwarders, carriers, and customers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with logistics partners to proactively address potential issues.

Systems & Reporting

  • Maintain internal tracking tools to reflect updates in booking schedules, container movements, and document status.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Solid understanding of U.S. container logistics, including rail, drayage, and port operations.
  • Experience with bulk agricultural commodities (e.g., soybeans, corn, wheat, DDGS, CGM).
  • Familiarity with export documentation and USDA regulatory requirements.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail, multitasking ability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent shipments.

PREFERRED BACKGROUND

  • Prior experience in agri-commodity trading, freight forwarding, or logistics within the commodity sector.
  • Knowledge of key transloading hubs (e.g., Chicago, Kansas City, Norfolk, Baltimore).
  • Exposure to international markets such as Southeast Asia, China, and the Middle East.
