Director of Category Management
Summary: A distribution company based outside of Philadelphia is looking for a Director of Category Management to join their growing team! This senior strategic leader will be responsible for owning product categories from sourcing through commercialization and plays a critical part in driving profitability, strengthening supplier relationships, optimizing contracts, and enabling sales performance. The position partners closely with Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Operations to ensure purchasing strategies align with enterprise-wide financial goals and long-term growth plans.
The Director of Category Management Will Be Responsible for:
- Owning and creating a portfolio of product categories and supplier brands.
- Driving revenue and profitability growth through proactive category planning and close collaboration with Sales and Marketing teams.
- Implementing best-in-class category management standards.
- Serving as a functional expert on purchasing tools, systems, and processes; leverage data and technology to support short- and long-term objectives.
- Leading initiatives to enhance systems, improve inventory visibility, strengthen data integrity, and increase operational efficiency.
- Overseeing recurring purchasing activities with strong accountability, discipline, and attention to detail.
- Ensuring accurate product data, compliance, and master data governance through strong cross-functional partnership.
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a team, supporting both business outcomes and individual career growth.
- Qualifications for the Category Director:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain or related field
- 5+ years of experience in buying, category management, or related leadership roles within a B2B setting.
- Knowledge of the automotive aftermarket.
- Strong strategic, analytical, and financial skills.
- Demonstrated success developing and maintaining influential supplier relationships.
- Advanced Excel proficiency for analysis, forecasting, and reporting.
- Strong written and verbal presentation skills.
- Self-motivated leader who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment with experience leading teams.
