Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager
A well-known Food Manufacturer is seeking a Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager to lead all food safety, quality, and regulatory programs at a high-volume manufacturing facility. This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring compliance, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a strong food safety culture across the site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure full compliance with internal standards and all local, state, federal, and international food safety regulations
- Oversee finished product quality and positive release programs
- Lead the design, implementation, and execution of food safety and quality systems, including HARPC, supplier quality, inspections, and food protection programs
- Serve as the site's Food Safety Team Leader, driving training initiatives and strengthening food safety culture
- Manage sanitation, allergen control, environmental monitoring, and pest control programs
- Maintain readiness for and lead third-party audits and certifications (e.g., GFSI, FDA, Kosher, Halal)
- Oversee traceability and recall programs, including mock recall exercises
- Investigate customer complaints and regulatory inquiries and provide timely responses
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Provide technical leadership on food safety, quality, food defense, and regulatory matters
Qualifications:
- 2-4+ years of experience in food safety/quality leadership within manufacturing
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or related field (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of HARPC, FSMA, and regulatory compliance requirements
- Certifications preferred: PCQI and Food Defense Coordinator
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence at all levels of the organization
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills
