Key Responsibilities
We are currently seeking a Packaging Engineer for the site in Dordrecht, the Netherlands. Operating in an international context, the Packaging Engineer will play a vital role in both new product development and optimization of existing packaging solutions.
Main tasks include:
Coordinating packaging development projects, including supplier changes and tender support;
Designing packaging solutions for new products that enhance retail appeal and support innovation;
Collaborating with manufacturing sites to improve current packaging for existing products;
Leading cost-saving initiatives in partnership with procurement, vendors, supply chain, and production teams;
Driving sustainability improvements in collaboration with manufacturing, marketing, and product development;
Managing project timelines, ensuring effective communication and technical evaluation throughout;
Specifying packaging materials to balance shelf-life requirements and cost efficiency;
Running trials, documenting results, and supporting implementation through to product launch;
Conducting value analysis and cost reduction on packaging materials and processes;
Supporting production teams during new product introductions and resolving packaging-related issues;
Maintaining detailed documentation including technical data and die-cut specifications for successful product commercialization;
Travelling as required for supplier or site visits in line with project needs.
What You Bring:
A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role or in the packaging industry;
A bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering (or related field);
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English;
Willingness to travel on a regular basis.
