A leading global food production organisation is seeking a highly skilled Packing & Filling Engineer to support its fast‑paced manufacturing site in Nijmegen, Netherlands. About the Role
As a Packing & Filling Engineer, you will focus on the technical performance, installation, and optimisation of the site's filling and packaging equipment. You will work closely with senior technical specialists, absorbing key knowledge and ensuring continuity for future generations of technology on the site.
This is a role for someone who is passionate about production machinery, enjoys problem-solving on the shop floor, and can confidently engage with suppliers both domestically and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Installation & Optimisation
- Lead installation of new fillers, labellers, buffer lanes, and other packaging line components.
- Manage integration of equipment such as spiral conveyor buffer systems.
- Ensure machinery is running at optimal performance, tackling mechanical or operational issues proactively.
Supplier Engagement & Technology Scouting
- Identify, assess, and visit potential new suppliers-frequently in France and Italy.
- Stay connected to emerging production technologies and innovations in filling/packaging equipment.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers to ensure high-quality installations and ongoing support.
Knowledge Continuity & Technical Leadership
- Work alongside two highly experienced senior engineers to absorb knowledge and maintain technical continuity.
- Serve as a key technical resource for the packaging and filling domain.
- Collaborate with on-site production teams to provide support and troubleshoot issues.
Operational Presence
- Work primarily on-site, with flexibility for occasional remote work.
- Be present during installations, troubleshooting, and project execution to ensure seamless delivery.
Requirements
- Fluent Dutch required-must be able to communicate effectively with suppliers and shop-floor teams.
- Strong mechanical engineering background with 10/10 technical experience in filling and packaging systems.
- Technical depth is more important than project management experience.
- Open to candidates from a variety of industries (FMCG, food, beverage, pharmaceuticals, etc.).
- Comfortable travelling internationally when required (France, Italy, other European suppliers).
- Hands-on mindset, proactive in identifying improvements and solving technical issues.
