Location: Dublin, GA (Relocation assistance available)

Salary: $90,000 - $125,000 dependent on YOE

Overview

A leading paper manufacturing organization is seeking a motivated Process Controls Engineer to support and advance the facility's control systems infrastructure. This role is central to maintaining reliable automation, improving system performance, and driving long-term technology upgrades. You'll collaborate cross-functionally to enhance safety, increase uptime, and optimize process efficiency across a 24/7 operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain all process control hardware and networks, including DCS, PLCs, servers, switches, and I/O systems.
  • Lead design, programming, and implementation of new and existing control system projects.
  • Troubleshoot complex automation, electrical, and instrumentation issues across mill operations.
  • Update control strategies, interlocks, alarms, and graphics to improve safety and operational reliability.
  • Manage system backups, software updates, integrations, and recovery processes for all controlrelated IT assets.
  • Interpret P&IDs, loop sheets, and electrical drawings to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support interdisciplinary teams-including maintenance, operations, and engineering-on controls-related needs.
  • Collaborate on longterm planning for system upgrades and standardization efforts.
  • Provide coaching and technical guidance to engineering and maintenance personnel.
  • Serve as the point of contact for contractors performing process control work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; related degrees with strong controls/IT experience also considered.
  • Experience with DCS (Foxboro preferred) and Allen Bradley PLCs
  • 3+ years in process controls or automation engineering, ideally with supervisory or leadership exposure.
  • Experience supporting a 24/7 industrial manufacturing environment - paper or chemicals preferred
  • Strong knowledge of electrical/instrumentation systems and industrial networking.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based systems, virtualization, and multilayer network design.
  • Project management experience.
