Position Overview
The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading day-to-day manufacturing operations within a fast-paced packaging production environment. This role oversees production personnel, ensures adherence to safety and quality standards, and drives efficiency across processes including blown film extrusion, injection molding, and related plastics manufacturing operations.
This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for a supervisor who thrives on the floor, engages directly with teams, and is focused on driving performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, coach, and develop production team members to meet daily production, quality, and safety objectives
- Oversee the daily manufacturing operations of precision poly bags and packaging materials.
- Lead shift operations, ensuring efficient utilization of labor, materials, and equipment
- Monitor production metrics (throughput, scrap, downtime) and implement corrective actions as needed
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, GMPs, and company procedures
- Partner with Quality to maintain product standards and resolve non-conformances
- Coordinate with Maintenance on equipment performance, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance activities
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on process optimization, waste reduction, and productivity gains
- Assist in scheduling and workforce planning to meet production demands
- Maintain accurate production documentation and reporting
- Foster a positive, accountable, and high-performance team culture
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience within plastics manufacturing strongly preferred
- Hands-on knowledge of blown film extrusion highly preferred
- Experience with injection molding highly preferred
- Background in packaging, plastics, or related industries strongly desired
- Exposure to regulated manufacturing environments (automotive, aerospace, pharmaceutical, etc.) considered a plus
- Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required
Preferred Skills & Competencies
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
- Strong leadership and team development capabilities
- Ability to troubleshoot production and process issues in real time
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or Six Sigma principles
- Effective communicator with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization
- Results-driven with a strong sense of urgency and accountability
Work Environment
- Manufacturing/plant floor environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures
- Requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 30lbs.
- Flexibility to work off-shifts, weekends, or overtime as needed
