Senior Procurement Manager (m/f/d)
DSJ Global are seeking a strategic and experienced Senior Procurement Manager / Category Manager (m/f/d) on a permanent basis for a global manufacturing group based in Stuttgart. This role will sit within their central procurement function, taking full ownership of the tooling category - defining global strategies and supplier management frameworks for a product area critical to the business.
This internationally recognised industrial group is a leader in precision engineering and manufacturing, known for its innovation, technical excellence, and strong market presence. The role will focus on the strategic development of the tooling category, including close collaboration with R&D and engineering teams to support both current and upcoming product lines.
The successful candidate will report directly to the CPO and play a key role in shaping procurement strategy at a global level, with strong exposure to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and implement global category strategies for tooling, aligning with business objectives and product development roadmaps.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with over 20 international sales units, ensuring alignment across markets and functions.
- Lead technical discussions with engineering and R&D teams to ensure procurement strategies support innovation and product performance.
- Develop and manage supplier performance frameworks, ensuring quality, cost, and delivery targets are met.
- Collaborate closely with the CPO to shape long-term procurement vision and drive strategic initiatives across the tooling category.
- Monitor market trends and supplier capabilities to inform sourcing decisions and risk mitigation strategies.
- Support the business in expanding into new product areas, ensuring procurement is positioned to scale effectively.
Qualifications:
- Strong experience in procurement, category management, or strategic sourcing within metals, engineering, tooling, or R&D-driven environments.
- Proven ability to lead global category strategies and manage complex supplier networks.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across technical and commercial teams.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial setting, ideally with exposure to precision tools or engineered components.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with a track record of delivering value through strategic procurement.
Additional Qualifications:
- Background in engineering-led or R&D-intensive industries is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and procurement tools.
- Fluent in English and German (B2+).
This position is based in Stuttgart, Germany, and offers a hybrid working model (1-2 days from home).
