Sr. Business Planner
Position Overview
The Senior Business Planner supports financial planning for key retail accounts and collaborates closely with Sales, Demand Planning, Supply Chain, and external Buying and Planning teams. This role partners with senior planners to report on sales, margin, and inventory performance across assigned accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior planners and account executives to set and achieve sales, margin, and inventory targets aligned with brand strategies
- Monitor weekly sales performance using retailer reports; flag pricing and inventory issues to optimize sales and protect margins
- Analyze business trends using tools such as store performance, climate data, and volume segmentation
- Partner with divisional teams to identify solutions that enhance internal profitability and manage excess inventory
- Share selling insights, category performance, and SKU recommendations with merchandising teams on a monthly/quarterly basis
- Conduct regular meetings with account executives to address challenges and identify growth opportunities
- Develop style-level demand and inventory plans using statistical forecasting and historical data
- Perform ad hoc analysis and support additional tasks as assigned by leadership
- Collaborate with Demand Planning and Sales to build assortment strategies
- Maintain appropriate weeks-of-supply (WOS) targets in alignment with plan and prior year benchmarks
- Participate in pre-season planning for replenishment, key items, and assortment development with merchandising and sales teams
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in planning or related roles
- Strong proficiency in retail math and Excel
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Analytical mindset with the ability to solve financial and merchandising challenges
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills
- Team-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with financial analysis principles and business intelligence tools
- Experience with platforms such as Anaplan or Business Objects
- Background in department store planning or merchandising
